Térraba River Roots and Rafting
Location
Buenos Aires, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica
The Térraba River is more than a waterway — it’s a lifeline that connects communities, ecosystems, and centuries of history.
Your journey begins with a guided rafting adventure down one of Costa Rica’s most important rivers. As you navigate gentle rapids and winding stretches of calm water, you’ll travel through lush rainforest landscapes teeming with wildlife. Keep an eye out for species that thrive along the riverbanks while experienced local guides share fascinating insights into the region’s ecology, history, and conservation efforts.
Along the way, you’ll stop in a traditional Boruca community, one of Costa Rica’s most culturally significant Indigenous groups. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to learn about Boruca traditions, hear stories passed down through generations, and gain a deeper understanding of their connection to the land and river.
More than a rafting excursion, this experience offers a unique opportunity to connect with the history, culture, and natural beauty of Southern Costa Rica.
