Mangrove Boat Tour
Location
Sierpe, Puntarenas Province, Costa Rica
Where the river meets the sea, an entirely different ecosystem begins.
This guided boat tour takes you deep into the Térraba-Sierpe National Wetlands, the largest mangrove ecosystem in Central America. Traveling by boat through a maze of winding channels, narrow waterways, and towering mangrove forests, you’ll explore a landscape that few visitors have the opportunity to experience.
As you navigate through the wetlands, keep watch for white-faced capuchin monkeys moving through the canopy, sloths resting among the branches, crocodiles basking along the shoreline, and a remarkable variety of tropical birds.
Along the way, your guide will share insights into the ecological importance of mangroves, their role in protecting coastlines and supporting biodiversity, and the conservation efforts helping preserve these remarkable wetlands for future generations.
More than a sightseeing excursion, this experience offers a rare opportunity to explore one of Costa Rica’s most important natural areas while gaining a deeper understanding of the delicate relationship between rivers, oceans, wildlife, and the people who depend on them.
